If you've ever gone out for a hard night of drinking, then you might have experienced some aches and pains from the night before.

Ways You Can Get Hurt While Drinking

Let's skip the fact that you can get hurt when you lose your inhibitions. Drinking alcohol not only disrupts and damages the decision-making area of the brain, it also emboldens those who partake. You might slip and fall, take a spill, bust a move, or perform any number of brazen acts that end up with a visit to a chiropractor near you.

Drinking on St. Paddy's Day? That's okay! You're not alone. If you decide to skip the adult beverages, that's equally cool minus the next day hangover. But if you do have a few too many, could it lead to back problems?

Read on to learn more.

The Lowdown on the Back / Booze Connection

Prior studies have suggested a link between alcohol consumption and lower back pain, published back in 2012 in Manual Therapy. However, according to Australian researchers, conclusive evidence has yet to make a solid connection between the two.

An association was commonly found in studies (data was pooled from 26 studies in total) where the primary focus was investigating alcohol abuse in patients previously diagnosed with chronic back pain.

What's it all mean?

Well, researchers were only able to conclude that alcohol intake may be associated with lower back pain, but only in patients who engage in heavy drinking, binge drinking, or those who had problems with alcohol abuse and dependency in the past.

If you think you might have a problem with alcohol, seek treatment immediately, or your problem may get strong enough to deal with you first.

If you suffer from lower back pain, neck/spin pain, and even leg pain, chiropractic treatment may be the difference between discomfort and living a fully active life. Vital Energy Wellness & Chiropractic Center Inc. is here to straighten you out and get you back up on your feet.
